Did you make paper chain paper dolls when you were a child?  This 48" square quilt uses simple piecing in the center and fusible machine applique on the border.  It would make a great play mat for the grand kids.  The sample is made in "Odd & Ends" by Julie Comstock which was released  in 2012.  It would look cute in any juvenile fabric.
